So, here is the public view of the Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets Historical GIS. In its analytical form, it resides in ArcGIS Pro files, and includes many different polygon layers of cultivars, industry, handicraft production, waterways, and so on. This version, the Maps Marker version, is drawn from spreadsheets of data and currently shows the location and dates of soviets and protests, colonial-era Catholic churches, colonial-era markets, colonial-era concessions, etc.. The constituent maps can be found here (you can click through):
- The Markets of the Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets era, circa 1928
- The Churches of the Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets era, circa 1920
- The Concessions of the Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets era, circa 1928
- The Protests and Soviets of the Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets
- Police and Army Locations, April 1930 – Jan. 1932
- Police and Army Activity Routes, April 1930 – Jan. 1932
- Militia and Army posts c. 1930
Each map draws from different resources, illustrated on each map’s subpage. In many instances the location of particular features is not precise, both because I don’t always know the precise location and/or the particular feature location draws from a polygon that I render here as a centralized point. As noted elsewhere, I have not yet included Quảng Ngãi and other provinces yet. The page concerning Colonial Vinh is not incorporated into the Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets H-GIS.
