A little scene from the “real” Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets H-GIS

Slowly, slowly I add to the Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets H-GIS, and run analyses. ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro makes everything so much easier, in my opinion. Here we see the border area between Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh province, with a color ramp showing the intensity of protest activity in each commune. This considers about 500 conflicts across the two provinces, with the tendency toward indicating more conflicts in a commune. What I am working on is the relationship between the presence of factors I would imagine might be ‘irritants’ to the larger protest movement, such as concessions / plantations or Catholic churches. Teasing apart the relationship of Vietnamese Catholics to the uprising is quite challenging.
